“My grandmother, Mrs Hodges, ran Sudbrook Post Office for fifty years. My father, his brother and two sisters lived there when they were small. I can remember going to visit Nanny and lying on the floor with our ears to the floor listening to the trains going through the Severn Tunnel way beneath us! We used to enjoy running around on the camp as we called it and if I remember rightly there was an old pill-box there somewhere that we used to go in.”
